Jamal "Chicken" Phillips was 28 years old when he lost his life to gun violence. He had 3 children and many family and friends.

On Wednesday, 12/14/2011, a little after 7 pm, Terrance and Jamal were sitting inside a burgundy Buick Century. It was parked outside the door at 3915 Annunciation St. in New Orleans. Jamal was in the driver's seat, and Terrance was in the passenger seat. A group of gunmen in a black pickup truck passed by and opened fire, striking them both. The bullet-ridden Buick started moving forward but crashed into another car on the opposite side of the street. Terrance was pronounced dead at the scene, and Jamal was rushed to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

No arrests have been made in the case, but police believe the murders were committed due to gang affiliation. This case is still open.
