Overview of Fay Rawley

Fay Rawley disappeared on November 8, 1953, in Macomb, Illinois. He was last seen leaving a woman's apartment, presumably to return home.

Rawley's eyeglasses and evidence of a struggle were found at his home, and his new Cadillac was missing. An employee at a nearby mine saw the car that night but could not identify the driver or passengers.

Rawley was a wealthy, divorced man who had a reputation for being a womanizer and carrying large sums of money. He had enemies due to his relationships and lending habits.

Two weeks before his disappearance, he was assaulted, had acid thrown on his car, and was nearly run over twice. Fay is believed to be buried in a strip mine near Summum, IL, with his new '53 Cadillac. Searches for his body at the mine in 1956 and 1962 were unsuccessful. His case remains unsolved.
