23-year-old Darian Michelle Hudson was living in Stillwater, OK when she vanished. In the year prior to her disappearance, she had suffered a miscarriage, a breakup and the loss of her beloved pet dog Zigg.  On October 21, 2017, she called her mother Stephanie Hudson and told her she wanted to move back to her parents' home in Witchita, KS. On October 22, Darian failed to show up for her job at Chili's which was unlike her - she was very reliable. On October 25, her friends began to call and text Stephanie that Darian was missing. On October 26, Stephanie and family drove to the Stillwater Police Department to file a missing person's report on Darian. However, they were told they'd have to wait 48 hours, so the actual incident report was not filed until October 28, 2017. When the family arrived at her duplex apartment on the 500 block of West Fifth Street, they were alarmed to find the door open, lights on, dishes in the sink, but her cell phone was left behind. 

Stillwater PD begin to investigate the incident on October 28 and were able to rule out everyone close to her. Since she did not own a car, they checked records from public transportation, and it was confirmed that Darian did not use public transit. Their first break came in early December of 2017 when police were notified of a man attempting to use Darian’s debit card at a hotel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He claimed he’d found the card in a purse hanging off a concrete sewage pipe back in October at the site of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, at the intersection of McElroy Road and Country Club Road, which was under construction. Law enforcement interviewed the construction crew there at the time and several workers remembered an encounter with a woman fitting Darian's description on October 26. She was sitting in a wooded area just south of the construction site and was blank and unresponsive when they approached to see if she was all right.

The last known sightings of Darian are on October 26 by a neighbor of the church property who said he saw her speaking to his grandchildren, but she was gone by the time he got there. The final sighting of Darian was by someone who said she was sitting on construction equipment on the evening of October 26, looking like she was waiting for a ride. She is reported to have been wearing blue jeans and a white tee-shirt, and some sources indicate she may have been wearing a dark coat.

On December 4, police searched the wooded area for Darian for two days, finding only some of her belongings, including a hooded sweatshirt and a wallet with her identification and credit cards in the pocket. 

Darian is a light-skinned Black woman with black hair and brown eyes. She is 5'3", 120 lbs. and is nicknamed D and D-baby by friends and family. She has both ears and her nose pierced, and a tattoo of a large feather with 5 birds and the words "Birds of a feather flock together" written in script on the back of her right arm. Friends say she is very active on social media and would not willingly leave without her phone. 

After a challenging year in which Darian suffered a miscarriage, a breakup, and the loss of her beloved dog, Darian explains to her mom Stephanie that she is going to enroll in nursing school, and to save money, would like to move back home to Wichita, KS.  Stephanie agrees.

Her best friend from Barton Community College, Monhollon says that she last FaceTimed with Darian on October 24, which was also the date of her last Twitter retweet.

Darian's friends begin to "blow up" Stephanie Hudson's phone with calls and texts that Darian did not show up for work and cannot be located.

Stephanie is informed she must wait 48 hours to file a report since Darian is an adult.

Stephanie decides to do her own investigation and drives to Darian's duplex apartment on the 500 block of West Fifth Street in Stillwater, OK. There she finds the door open, a light on, dishes in the sink, and Darian's cell phone left behind. There is no sign of forced entry or foul play.

Reconstructed after December 2: Construction workers at a construction site report seeing a woman matching Darian's description sitting down on a tree log. When they approached to see if she was okay, she was unresponsive and stared blankly.

Reconstructed after December 2: A man who lived on the property adjoining the church tells police he had seen Darian later that day talking with his grandchildren. According to Det. Kellison, the man stated his grandson got off the school bus and saw a female matching Darian’s description come up out of the creek, through his electrified fence, onto his property, and walk up to his grandchildren. By the time he got there, Darian was gone. He says that Darian was headed north to McElroy and then west toward Country Club.

Reconstructed after December 2: This is the last reported sighting of Darian. A witness reports seeing a woman matching her description sitting on a piece of construction equipment wearing blue jeans, a white tee-shirt, and (possibly) a dark coat. It looks like she may have been waiting for a ride.

48 hours after Stephanie reported her daughter missing to Stillwater Police Department, the official investigation begins. Police interview those close to Darian, but all are cleared as having no involvement. They also check public transit, as Darian does not own a vehicle, but find no record of her using public transportation.

Darian's information is submitted to NamUs and her Missing Persons case is created.

This is the first big break in the case, over a month after the last sighting of Darian. A man claims he found an unattended purse sitting on a concrete drainage pipe at the construction site around St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at the intersection of McElroy and Country Club Roads, and took the purse and her debit card. After this break, law enforcement interview construction workers who were there are the time and are able to reconstruct/trace Darian's actions through October 26, which was the last known sighting of Darian.

A young girl goes missing under unusual circumstances; her family is still searching for answers

Darian Michelle Hudson is a 5'3", 120 lb light-skinned African American/Black woman who went missing at age 23. She has black hair and brown eyes, a nose piercing on her left nostril, and both ears pierced. Darian also has a back right shoulder tattoo of a feather with 5 small birds and the phrase "birds of a feather flock together". She had a job and was in school at the time that she went missing, and was dealing with a breakup at the time. Darian was last seen wearing white tee-shirt and blue jeans at the St. Francis Xavier construction site on North Country Club and McElroy in Stillwater Oklahoma, approximately 4 miles from her house. 

Darian has a tattoo of a feather and 5 birds with the script “Birds of a feather flock together” on the back of her right shoulder. She has a nose stud on the left side and both her ears are pierced. Her nicknames are D or DBaby. 

Stephanie Hudson is Darian’s mother. They had a very close relationship and were in constant contact with one another. Stephanie was one of the last people to be in contact with her daughter via phone, and the family had made plans to pick Darian up from Stillwater Oklahoma to move her back home to Wichita, Kansas. "If we didn't talk on the phone every day we were texting, so I knew what was going on in her life." Stephanie recalls in the last conversation between her and Darian, her daughter said "Mom, I'm ready to come home; I want to get out of Oklahoma", and she responded, " Okay; well, when do you want us to come get you?". Darian replied that she had a couple of "things she needed to tie up", then Stephanie made plans to pick her up on Friday. Then, on Thursday, Darian's friends blew up Stephanie’s phone, saying that they couldn't find or contact Darian and that she had missed work. Stephanie and her husband went to Oklahoma and tried to file a missing person’s report with Stillwater police but were told to wait. Unwilling to wait, Stephanie, Darian's dad and her brother all canvassed the neighborhood, searching and talking to neighbors.

A friend who played softball with Darian in 2015 at Langston University. Described Darian as "her girl", and that they went through everything in college together. She stated that she noticed a "clear change" in Darian's life when she was dating her ex-boyfriend; she had stopped playing softball and began hanging out with friends she met at work. Nicholson feels someone was involved in Darian's disappearance.

Friends with Darian since seventh grade, Hill told Dateline the pair considered themselves sisters. Hill said as they grew older they took different paths in life but remained close. She spoke to Darian just a couple of weeks before she went missing. Hill told Dateline that she fears something terrible happened to her friend. She added that she hoped the police would take a closer look at the case and the people in Darian’s life at the time.

Kellison did everything the family asked her to do, responded to their calls, and followed up on any leads that she had. She collaborated with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s Cold Case Unit to feature Darian on a Cold Case Playing Card in the hopes of generating new leads.

Louis Cottrell was a construction worker at the site. Whether he physically interacted with Darian is unknown, but he was working with the crew and knew of her presence at the site at the time. He commented to a news reporter "If we had known [about Darian's missing person status], we could have notified somebody; without knowing, she was just another person that could have been homeless.”

A construction worker who interacted with Darian the last time she was seen on October 26th, 2017 at the St. Francis Xavier construction site. He asked Darian "Do you need help? Is there something wrong?" and "she just looked at me [him], like please don't call the cops or something. That’s what I got from it.", he later said.

This person claims he saw Darian speaking with his grandchildren on October 26, but by the time he reached them, she was gone.

A young woman goes missing under unusual circumstances; her family is still searching for answers

23 year old Darian Michelle Hudson was a young woman who was making plans.

 In the year before her disappearance, she had suffered a miscarriage, a breakup, and the loss of her beloved pet dog Zigg. But despite these setbacks, Darian was determined to find a silver lining. On October 21, 2017, she called her mother Stephanie Hudson to announce that she wanted to leave Stillwater, OK where she was currently living, and move back to her parents' home in Wichita, KS. She planned to enroll in nursing school and hoped to save money by moving back home. Her family was delighted she was thinking of moving home, and since she didn’t drive, they were happy to arrange to pick her up the following weekend.

Unfortunately, this was the last information uncovered about Darian’s case. There have been no further sightings of Darian or clues to her whereabouts. Her social media and bank accounts have been untouched since the day she disappeared. The Stillwater Police Department and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s Cold Case Unit collaborated to feature Darian’s case on a Cold Case Playing Card deck to be distributed to jails and prisons, in hopes that an inmate may come forward with information about Darian’s case. So far there have been no new leads, though law enforcement confirms her case is still open and active.
