Christopher Bird went missing on July 29, 1984, after going to a friend's home to borrow a ladder. He was last seen at D & Q Stables in Windham, New Hampshire.

On August 3, his tan 1974 Mercury Comet was found abandoned at the mall in Methuen, Massachusetts, with both of its rear tires flat. His friend, Richard Brunt, who was camping with him at the time of his disappearance, is considered the prime suspect in the case, but has never been charged. Brunt has a criminal record and has been charged with second-degree murder and sexual assault in the past.

Christopher's case is considered suspicious and believed to be a homicide. It remains unsolved.
