In May 2011, Amber lost her rental apartment, car, and much of her belongings in the Joplin tornado. She was then relocated to a FEMA trailer and a man moved in with her and her children. On the morning of 07/07/2012, Amber’s mother went to the trailer to pick her up but there was no response when she knocked on the door and attempted to reach her via phone.
