Overview of Paul Tam

Paul Tam, 48, a website manager who worked for Manchester University. At the time of his death, Mr. Tam had moved to the United States to work in Los Angeles.

Tam was walking with his niece when he was attacked by a couple in Post Street, between Franklin Street and Gough Street. Tam tried to hold onto his messenger bag but was stabbed in the head by the male suspect. The video showed Tam backing away from his attacker into the street, where their confrontation blocked traffic. Tam tries to run around a car to escape his attacker but is tackled by the mugger, who then stabs him in the middle of the road. Tam’s niece, who is from Southern California, was not injured and was taken for treatment at San Francisco General Hospital, where he died on March 24. The San Francisco Police Officer’s Association is offering a US$5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the two suspects. The suspects are described in police release sketches.

The robbers had taken his bag which reportedly contained his passport, money, mobile phone and bank cards. Police in San Francisco have released footage of the “brutal” murder of a 44-year-old Briton who was assaulted in a street robbery. The suspects are described as a black adult male, 5'10", of heavy build and last seen wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans; and a black adult female, 5'4", with long dreadlocks or braids up in a ponytail.
