Uncovered Needs Your Help

We’ve invested more than 10,000 human hours in dedicated research, meeting with families, and interacting with community members. But, with 250,000 cold cases, we need your financial help to continue this work and ensure no victim’s story is ever forgotten.

Over the past four years, Uncovered has become the largest public database of victim centered, family focused cold case data for missing, murdered, and unidentified cases.

Along the way, we’ve also become a prominent support network for families, advocates, and the media who work to find answers in these cases.

Our database of nearly 50,000 cases has been an invaluable resource used and trusted by more than 1,000,000 people this year alone.

We’ve amplified the voices of thousands of victims, giving their unsolved cases the spotlight they deserve – proving that sharing these stories is just the first step in activating a community and calling them to action.

That action is what makes the Uncovered Community more than just an online forum. We are a movement fueled by deeply passionate, empathetic, and fierce advocates in a relentless pursuit of answers.

There’s no doubt that together, we’ve made a difference — but unless we receive your support, Uncovered is in danger of going into a hibernated state.

Over the years, we’ve had as many as nine full-time employees building the site and working toward a shared mission. Today, that number is down to four and is soon to go even lower. Our reduction of staff has already resulted in big backlogs and has limited our ability to work directly with families.

Most online sites get revenue through advertising, sponsorship, or memberships. While we’re no different in that context, to date, our revenue levels have not been nearly enough to even cover our expenses.

This work has never been just a job for us — it’s an intrinsic calling. We’re so thankful for your trust, love, and continued encouragement.

Frequently asked questions

What does my contribution go to?

Building and managing technology, hosting and scaling servers to accommodate millions of visitors, and researching and managing each of the cases you read on a regular basis.

Today, it costs more than $15K a month to just maintain the operations of what you’ve come to rely on.

What does a “hibernated state” mean?

Mainly, this situation will mean we cannot keep the current team on payroll.

Because of this, a hibernated state means the Uncovered database will continue to live on — but would remain static. New cases will not be added and updates to cases won’t be made.

All social media activity and email responses will slow significantly, and may eventually cease. Our twice-weekly newsletter, The Citizen Detective, may reduce to once-a-week, with the possibility of stopping for some time.

Thankfully, the social portion of the community will remain active, powered by our dedicated members, and supported by Lexi Kakis, Dana Poll, and Andrea Cipriano.

How do I change or cancel a recurring contribution?

You can access our contribution portal here to manage any recurring contributions.

If you have any questions, email us at community@uncovered.com. We'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Your contribution does not constitute a charitable donation. But it will enable Uncovered to continue bringing you the essential information you've become accustomed to.

Recurring contributions will renew automatically. You may pause or cancel your automatic renewal, or manage your subscription at any time.
