In Tuesday’s emotional testimony, Summer Shiflet testified that she trusted her sister, Lori Vallow Daybell, when she said she didn’t know where her children were in 2020.
Then, her feelings changed when JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan’s bodies were found.

Lori: Not good.
Summer (fighting back tears): I don’t know what to say. I’m willing to listen if you want to talk to me. I just don’t know what to say.
Lori: I don’t know what anybody knows I’ve been in isolation for 2 weeks…[unintelligible]…I haven’t talked to anyone.
Summer: Well, they know that they found JJ and Tylee buried in Chad’s backyard…and we don’t understand what happened. [pauses for crying] Can you tell us? Did you know they were there?
Lori: I can’t talk about it.
Summer: I don’t know what to say Lori I mean, I love you and Alex but this is… I’m sick to my stomach.

Lori: Absolutely, but I can’t talk about it.

Summer: I don’t know how they can be thrown away like garbage. You were in Hawaii, dancing on the beach while your kids are in the ground? You had to have known they were there.
Lori: This is your opinion.
Summer: They were just little kids. I don’t understand. We would have taken them for you. … You cut me and mom off for four months.
Lori: You don’t understand. I can’t talk about them.
Summer: You didn’t tell me Alex (Cox) died, which I’m glad he’s gone if he was involved.
Lori: Nobody in the world knows what I’ve been through.
Summer: Lori, you were dancing on a beach smiling, getting wedding photos.
Lori: Yeah, months later.
Summer: Please consider that you’ve been deceived. How could you let them die like this?
Lori: I didn’t!
