The victim's remains were found in Warwick Brook in a densely wooded, secluded area off of State Highway 17 in a shallow creek. He was shot in the head.

A Longine Wittnauer wristwatch was on his left wrist. The watch had an inexpensive black leather band with a note on the back stating, "Watch repaired at Whippany Jewelers, Whippany, NJ 01/67."
