From all accounts, Wilbert Bell, Jr. was loved by many family and friends. He was described as a sweet, humble, God-fearing man. He had a big heart and loved to joke around and make people laugh. He was only 39 years old when his life was taken away.

At about 12:05 am on Thursday, 06/15/2017, Wilbert Bell Jr. was riding his bike in the 2700 block of Lockwood Avenue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Surveillance video from a nearby street camera captured the moment when a white SUV stopped in the middle of the street. Wilbert drops his bike and takes off running. Two black males jump out of the vehicle, start chasing Wilbert and shoot him repeatedly before fleeing the scene. Authorities found Wilbert with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Approximately two weeks later, investigators released the video snippets, hoping it would lead to a break in the case. So far, no one has come forward with any additional information.

Investigators are still looking for possible suspects and motives, and no arrests have been made. This case is still open.
