Evening: Mitrice arrives at Geoffrey's and is found going through one of the staff's cars
A manager from Geoffreys stated that prior to the time of Mitrice entering the restaurant, she was found in one of staff's vehicle, located in Geoffrey's parking lot, going through his CD collection. When Mitrice was questioned about being in the vehicle, she began speaking gibberish. After the staff witnessed Mitrice's bizarre behavior in Geoffrey’s parking lot, she was then allowed to enter the restaurant to order a meal and an alcoholic beverage totaling $89.00 dollars, where again witnesses inside described Mitrice's behavior as strange. She alledgedly told a few people she was from Mars and was here to avenge Michael Jackson's death.
Evening: Mitrice enters Geoffrey's, orders, then goes to sit at a stranger's table while waiting on her order
While waiting for her order, Mitrice sat down at a full table with a party of seven already dining. According to patrons and staff, she seemed “off.” In LA Magazine they described her as “eccentric,” at one point claiming she was from Mars.
The table she sat down with didn’t ask her to leave though.
Evening: Mitrice notifies Geoffrey's she cannot pay for her food/drink; they call her grandmother to cover the dinner
The table she sat down with didn’t ask her to leave though. The diners left and Mitrice was presented with her bill that totaled $89. She couldn’t pay. She called her grandmother who offered to pay for the meal. But at the time the restaurant needed a faxed signature, and Mitrice’s grandmother didn’t have a fax. With no else to call, the restaurant called the sheriff’s department.
7:40pm: Geoffrey's call Malibu Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department because she says she cannot pay her bill
Geoffrey’s calls 911 explaining that there was a black woman there acting like she was on drugs and refusing to pay her bill. Three (3) Male Officers from the Mailbu-Lost Hills Sherriff's Department responded to the call at Geoffrey’s, where at least nine (9) witnesses informed officers of Mitrice's behavior.
9:50pm: Mitrice is booked on possession of marijuana and defrauding an innkeeper
The Malibu Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department detained, arrested, and booked Mitrice after finding personal use marijuana in her car. In California, personal use marijuana is a citable offense that usually doesn't result in an arrest.
Mitrice was arrested and booked for (1) Defrauding an innkeeper 537(a) PC and (2) Possession of marijuana 11357(b) HS. and (2) Possession of marijuana 11357(b) HS.

Overnight: Mitrice's mother is notified she has been arrested; mother's asks them not to release her until morning
The deputies also impounded Mitrice’s car. Inside the car they left her purse, phone, identification and ATM card. Mitrice’s mother called the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station to ask about picking her daughter up. She was told Mitrice wouldn't be released until the morning. Shortly after the phone call, Mitrice was free to leave with none of her belongings.
Early Morning: Mitrice is spotted in backyard of former KTLA news anchor Bill Smith
Bill Smith, a former reporter for KTLA News, who called the police to report a woman wandering around his backyard early that morning (likely around 6:30am, about 6 hours after Mitrice’s release). Smith’s residence, about 6 miles west of the Lost Hills Station, was located at the bottom of Dark Canyon in a gated community. Smith described her as a “slim black woman with afro hair”. Smith reported that he called out of his window to ask if she was okay, to which she responded she was “just resting”. By the time Smith had put something on so he could go out and investigate, she was gone, having disappeared back into the mountains beyond his home.
Late Night: Mitrice's body found
Then on August 9, 2010, a park ranger was patrolling part of Dark Canyon. He was out to look into an illegal marijiana grow in the area. The area was 8 miles from the Lost Hills Station and hard to access. There were no trails, it was steep with overgrowth and jagged rocks. While making his way through the overgrowth he came across a human skull. The park ranger called the sheriffs.
