The State Bar of Georgia has dismissed a complaint filed by the family of Kendrick Johnson.

Kendrick is seen entering the old gymnasium of Lowndes High School. Based on reports, the motion-activated surveillance camera recorded another student entering the gym before Kendrick, but going in a different direction. Authorities quickly identified the student and confirmed that he was going to class. Authorities explain that Kendrick is seen walking to the right side of the gym where the gym mats are located, out of the camera's view at 1:27 pm. Authorities also state that no one was seen following him, although they add that one person of interest was seen on surveillance footage walking outside the school in the opposite direction of the gym at 1:28 pm, and their other person of interest was in the parking lot at 1:28 pm.

According to the school bus travel log, the bus that was carrying the wrestling team (including person of interest Branden Bell), leaves the school sometime between 11:50 am and 12:30 pm. The bus full of around 25 wrestlers is on its way to Macon, Georgia for a wrestling tournament. Cell phone records show that the bus was already 85 miles north of Lowndes High School by 1:53 pm.

Kendrick's mother, Jacquelyn Johnson, calls the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office and reports Kendrick missing when he had not returned home from school on January 10.

According to a Lowndes County Sheriff's Office incident report, the student who found Kendrick deceased in the gym mat observed a set of socks sticking up out of the mat. Upon climbing onto the gym mats and looking inside, the individual saw Kendrick inside of one of the rolled-up, standing gym mats.

The first police officers arrive at Lowndes High School at 10:35 am to assess the situation. Upon entering the gym, the officers are informed by students that there was a body inside of a rolled-up gym mat. The officers describes the scene in an incident report as the following: "...a blue cheerleader mat lying horizontal and rolled up to approximately a 3' diameter. In the center of the roll pointing north, [the officer] observed two feet with socks wearing denim jeans... In the center of the roll facing south, [the officer] observed a black male torso and head wearing white, exposed down to his rib cage. Both arms partially obstructed the face and were moderately stiff. The facial area was severely disfigured and swollen. The only identifying feature to the victim that [the officer] observed was the long dread locks".

Lowndes High School is locked down by law enforcement and school administrators when Kendrick's body is found in the school's gym. This lockdown is lifted shortly after the investigation begins.

A vigil is held for Kendrick Johnson at John W. Saunders Memorial Park less than a week after his death.

According to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner's report, the results of the first autopsy performed on 1/14/2013 determined that Kendrick's cause of death was positional asphyxia. On May 2, 2013, authorities announce that the manner of Kendrick's death is officially ruled as accidental. At this point, investigators believe that Kendrick had fallen into a standing rolled-up gym mat and became stuck when reaching for a shoe at the bottom of the mat.

Kendrick's family schedules a second autopsy for their son on June 6, 2013, and his body is exhumed on June 14, 2013, in preparation for the autopsy the following day. The family has hired Dr. William Anderson, a forensic pathologist in Ocala, Florida, to perform the autopsy.

According to this autopsy, which was performed by an independent pathologist, Kendrick's cause of death was "unexplained, apparent non-accidental, blunt force trauma". The second autopsy also reveals that Kendrick's internal organs are missing; his body cavity stuffed with newspaper. The results are provided to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office on August 15, 2013, and the results are released to the public in September.

The Valdosta-Lowndes County Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Council offers a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for Kendrick's death. The reward was set to be returned to the donor if an arrest is not made within 90 days of the donation.

A Georgia judge orders the release of the surveillance video from the Lowndes high school gym, in addition to several investigative documents.

Along with the FBI, former U.S. Attorney Michael Moore announces a day after the surveillance video is released that he will be joining the investigation into Kendrick's death.

A rally is held for Kendrick Johnson to mark the one-year anniversary of his death and for his family to demand answers. The memorial is held at John W. Saunders Memorial Park.

The $10,000 reward for information in Kendrick's case is rescinded after the 90-day period for the reward expired.

Over a year after Kendrick's death, an email is sent from an anonymous individual to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office. The email reportedly claims that the sender's friend had overheard a conversation with Brian Bell's girlfriend, Taylor Eakin, who stated that Brian and another classmate, Ryan Hall, had killed Kendrick. This email leads to further investigations and motivates the Lowndes County Assistant District Attorney to order a subpoena to a communications company for more information.

After accusing Harrington Funeral Home of negligence and fraud after the second autopsy was completed, the Johnson family files a lawsuit against them. The basis of their claims relied on information revealed during the second autopsy, which stated that Kendrick's organs were missing and that his body was stuffed with newspaper. After an investigation by a state board, the charges were dropped after the findings concluded that the funeral home didn't break the law.

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office reports that they have determined that the email confession was a hoax. After identifying and interviewing the sender of the email, investigators learned that the sender did not know the information to be a fact. She redacts her statements after admitting they were rumors.

Kendrick's family files a wrongful death lawsuit against the Lowndes County Board of Education a year after Kendrick's death. According to various sources, the lawsuit claims that the Board of Education did not properly investigate an event in which an altercation took place on a school bus between Kendrick and a classmate.

During the press conference, the Johnson family pleads with the public to come forward if they have any information regarding the death of their son. Specifically, they explain how many students were not interviewed by law enforcement the day that Kendrick's body was found due to classes being excused early in the day.

This $100 million wrongful death lawsuit made claims that classmates were responsible for the death of Kendrick, naming 38 individuals in the lawsuit. The family alleges that three classmates had attacked and killed Kendrick.

Seven members of the Johnson family were found guilty of obstruction of justice for blocking the entrance of the Lowndes County Judicial Complex during a protest on April 25, 2013. The family members were sentenced to one year in jail, a sentence which would be suspended as long as none of them were arrested in the next year.

On the morning of July 21, authorities search the Bell and Eakin family homes, as well as Brian Bell's college dorm room. Authorities seize computers, cell phones, and other belongings as a part of the investigation into the death of Kendrick Johnson. At 4:30 am, 19-year-old Ryan Hall is handcuffed and his home searched by U.S. Marshals. His electronics are seized and he is taken to Macon, Georgia for questioning, despite not being charged with a crime. He had agreed to cooperate without a lawyer, claiming innocence and nothing to hide. He maintains he had barely known Kendrick but has been subject to harassment based on rumors and innuendos circulating on social media. He believes the searches and interrogations to be an extension of this harassment.

20-year-old Dalton Ray Chauncey is arrested and charged with providing false statements to police. On July 18, he told investigators at the Lowndes County Sherrif's Office that he had information about the murder. According to reports, he'd overheard two Lowndes High School students talking about their involvement in Kendrick's death, specifically that they wanted to "rough him up" but had taken it too far. He names a third person he said overheard the confession and provides the first names of the two allegedly involved. Investigators question that person - who denied what Chauncey said - and they cannot find the two unknown people Chauncey spoke of. After pointing out these inconsistencies in a July 23 interview, authorities ask Chauncey to take a polygraph on July 29 but he declines, confessing the entire story is a fabrication.

The Superior Court of Lowndes County dismisses the $100 million lawsuit filed by the Johnson family, at the family's request. The lawsuit alleged that Brian and Branden Bell killed Kendrick and that officials covered up Kendrick's true cause of death. A lawyer for the Johnson family reports that the lawsuit will be refiled in the future, but more time was needed to explore the potential results of a second investigation by a U.S. Attorney.

More than three years after Kendrick's death, the U.S. Department of Justice concludes its independent investigation into his death. Their investigation is determined to have found insufficient evidence to support any criminal charges into Kendrick Johnson's 2013 death.

Ryan Domek-Hernandez steps forward as a witness in 2017 claiming that he was at Branden's apartment in April of 2016, and listened as Branden admitted to the following: - Brian Bell killed Kendrick - An argument had taken place between Brian, Branden, and another individual in the school's gym - Rick Bell, the boys' father - contacted former Sheriff Chris Prine about the altercation and met with the county's coroner - An unnamed FBI agent altered the surveillance video - Kendrick's organs were removed during the first autopsy to confuse the time of death - The first autopsy record was falsified However, most of these claims have been completely discredited by evidence collected by law enforcement.

Almost five years after their son's death, the Johnson family files for Kendrick's body to be exhumed for a second time, and a third autopsy is scheduled for June 22, 2018.

Following the Johnson family's request, Kendrick's body is exhumed on June 22, 2018 in preparation for a third autopsy. According to the third autopsy report, which was performed by Dr. William Anderson, Kendrick's cause of death was "non-accidental blunt force trauma to his right neck and right thorax".

Nearly seven years after their son's death, the Johnson family requests that both the federal and state investigation into the death of Kendrick Johnson be reopened. This request is made on what would have been Kendrick's 24th birthday.

The current Lowndes County Sheriff, Ashley Paulk, announces that he has reopened the investigation into Kendrick Johnson's death and has been in contact with the Justice Department to receive all of the records from the previous investigation.

More than 8 years after their son's death, the Johnson family presents an audio recording to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office. This recording, which appears to contain a confession, was reportedly recorded and sold to the Johnson family for $1,000 by an individual who the family describes as an 'alleged family member'. This recording states "They are going to catch me anyway; I should've never done this. I was young and stupid. Kendrick didn't deserve this man" before ending with a tearful "They're going to catch me anyways", according to a transcript of the recording.

According to Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk, the recording given to him by the Johnson family has been determined to be a hoax. Paulk further explains that the recording was reportedly collected by a second cousin of a family who was sued by the Johnson family. Paulk describes how the individual who was taped in the audio recording had confessed to investigators that the confession tape was not genuine. In fact, he clarifies, the family doesn't even have a second cousin.

More than 8 years after his death, Kendrick's parents request a new investigation. Furthermore, they request a new set of investigators to offer a fresh set of eyes on the evidence in the case. The Lowndes County Sheriff, Ashley Paulk, responds with statements claiming that their investigation into Kendrick's death is almost completed and that the family won't be happy with the results of another investigation. In the same interview, Paulk explains that there are currently two investigations taking place regarding Kendrick's case, one into Kendrick's death, and another into the authentication of the alleged confession tape.

The actress is a producer and narrator on 'Finding Kendrick Johnson,' a documentary investigating the high school student's mysterious death.

This time, they file a staggering $1 billion federal lawsuit against the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office, claiming these agencies conspired to fabricate facts and make false claims about Kendrick's death. They also demand a jury trial on all questions of fact raised in the complaint. According to Atlanta Black Star and other sources, Kendrick's parents claim that the county sheriff and GBI conspired to “make false writings in each of its official documents that misrepresent material facts and present an invented narrative and erroneous cause of death” for their son.
