Aubrey moves back to Oklahoma
Aubrey had moved out to New Mexico with her then boyfriend, Jay, earlier in the year. Jay told police that she had moved back to get help for her alcohol and drug abuse, however Aubrey told her aunt, Pam, that she was scared of Jay. Pam also states that Aubrey had told her that Jay had threatened to kill her if she left him.

Aubrey's communication with her family decreases
Aubrey was usually in contact with friends or family members every day, and constantly used her social media accounts. In December, Aubrey's communication with friends and family as well as her social media presence started slowing, eventually stopping altogether.
An altercation takes place between Aubrey and her stepfather
Aubrey's stepfather filed charges of assault and battery against Aubrey, however these were dropped quickly on March 1st.
Overnight: Aubrey is last seen leaving her families home
Before she left, she had messaged multiple people on Facebook, looking for a ride. According to her mother, Aubrey was planning on meeting someone that night, but it is not known whether anyone picked her up. Aubrey left her home without her purse or important medication.

After not seeing or hearing from Aubrey since March 9th, Aubrey's family reports her missing to the Delaware County Sheriff's Department.
A woman calls Aubrey's ex-boyfriend, Jay, with false information on Aubrey's whereabouts
An unknown woman, who claimed to be Aubrey's friend, Deanette Rowbotham, calls Jay and tells him that Aubrey was being held against her will in Ketchum, Oklahoma for drug money she had owed someone. Deanette continued to explain that Aubrey would be released when the debt was paid, and if they were not paid, Aubrey would be killed. When investigators question Deanette, they quickly learned that this was a hoax, and she was arrested and subsequently charged with extortion.
